HTML Documents must be plain text for them to be read by browsers. If you are using a Macintosh to edit your documents, use SimpleText or save it as text only format. If you are using a PC, use DOS Edit or Windows Notepad or save it as text only format. There are also HTML editors that act like word processors such as WordPerfect or MS-Word. These HTML editors often allow you to view your Home Page as you are editing, whereas using a text editor requires you to visualize the layout of your web page.

Your home page must be named default.html. If you are using a Windows 3.1 machine, be sure to rename the file once you have uploaded it, following the directions below.

Once your HTML documents and graphics files are completed, you must upload them to your account using an FTP utility such as FTP, CuteFTP or Fetch or by using a terminal program that supports zmodem transfer protocol. HTML files and graphics MUST be placed in the directory titled public_html which is a subdirectory of your home directory. The program that created your account created this directory and configured it to be accessible to web browsers.
